2008-2009
ATOM DEGUIRE
Atom Deguire is the winner of the first edition of the contest Jeune tête d’affiche. Deguire’s artistic practice articulates how the sign as an image can subvert the urban landscape. He completed a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, Painting at York University in 2008.
2009-2010
KAREN ZALAMEA
Karen Zalamea is the winner of the second edition of the Jeune tête d’affiche contest with her work Self-Portrait With Plaster III (2009). Zalamea’s work enquires into the relationship between the body, the gesture, work, repetition and rhythm. In 2009 she completed a Master’s degree in Fine Arts with a Major in Photography at Concordia University.
2010-2011
JUAN ORTIZ-APUY
Juan Ortiz-apuy is the winner of the third edition of the Jeune tête d’affiche contest with his work from the Species of Spaces Series (2010). Ortiz-apuy describes his artistic practice as a road trip into the remote places of language, the grey area where articulation meets ineffability and language is a place of struggle. He is currently completing a Master’s degree of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
2011-2012
ALEX KISILEVICH
Alex Kisilevich is the 4th winner of the Jeune tête d’affiche contest with Mop, an image from the Kallima series which is exploring notions of camouflage and mimesis, not without absurdity. Alex Kisilevich recently completed a Master’s degree of Fine Arts in Visual Arts at York University. He is represented by Angell Gallery.
